Since the diagnosis of the first few patients in China, the coronavirus, or now named as SARS-CoV-2 virus, is the center of focus of the world. You may already know its most common symptoms, for example, temperature, dry cough, breathing problems, etc.

But you may have missed a few uncommon symptoms. Do you know that a swollen toe can also be a sign of COVID-19?

Let’s find out a few more unusual signs of COVID-19.

1. Swollen Toes-COVID Toes

As the doctors were struggling to find more about SARS-CoV-2, dermatologists around the world started seeing an increasing number of swollen toes with the unexplained origin.

A Boston dermatologist, Esther Freeman, said that he had seen more toes in COVID days than his entire career.

But don’t rush to the hospital if you have a swollen toe. There are many other conditions in which you might get your foot swollen. And even if it is suspected case of COVID-19, you should always talk to your doctor over the call before going to the hospital. The only emergency condition is the problem of breathing.

2. Eye Problems

COVID-19 can cause eye issues, for example, big blood vessels, inflamed eyelids, and watery eyes. It can also initiate light sensitivity and irritation. These signs may appear only in people with severe infection.

3. Gut Issues

SARS-CoV-2 infection can manifest as gastrointestinal symptoms, for example, nausea, decrease in appetite, diarrhea, and vomiting. These may show for only a day. Some infected people have diarrhea and nausea before the fever and breathing symptoms.

4. Confusion

One of the rare features of COVID-19 is confusion. This can occur in some elderly patients. Moreover, this condition develops in severe infections. Other symptoms like impaired movement, stroke, or seizure may also co-occur with confusion.

5. No Smell, No Taste

As reported by the Journal of American Medical Association and International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology, loss of taste and smell are now documented symptoms of COVID-19. Fortunately, the infected person regains these senses over the period.

The Bottom Line

Rumors of various symptoms of COVID-19 are flooding the internet. You must do your research before assuming any of these as truths. The most common are still fever, dry cough, and breathing issues.

However, having any of the above-mentioned symptoms doesn’t mean that you should run to the hospital. You must always communicate with your doctor whether to visit the hospital for a test or not.
