How To Take Care Of Your Face

Life is built on habits. However, the word "habits" mostly gets a negative connotation. What if we create habits beneficial to the health of our skin? Your face is the first thing everyone sees. It's therefore paramount that you take good care of it. Everyone has different skin with unique skincare needs. Having a consistent skincare habit or routine is important to your face. But how do you ensure you keep your face glowing?

  • Wash your face

Washing your face helps eliminate oils, dirt, and bacteria that accumulate on your face making your pores appear bigger. Wash your face every day when you wake up to remove dirt and oils, then before bed to remove grime, oils, and makeup. Wash your face after every workout or after you sweat. You can use a gentle, natural face wash to clean your face. Organic face wash is the best as they don't contain harmful sulfates.

  • Use an alcohol-free toner

After washing your face, this helps remove any remaining traces of dirt, makeup, oil, and bacteria from the skin. The toner helps balance the skin's pH level, leaving it less prone to breakouts and healthier. Toners with alcohol can be drying, which might lead to skin irritation.

  • Use a moisturizer

Some people believe that you don't need to apply a moisturizer if you have oily skin. This is, however, false. Whatever skin type you have, use a moisturizer to prevent dry and flaky skin. The moisturizer also helps keep the skin cells performing at peak levels, preventing wrinkles and fine lines from forming.

  • Drink lots of water

Apart from taking care of the skin from the outside, you also need to feed it inside. Drinking a sufficient amount of water reduces the chances of having dull, itchy, and dry skin. Dry skin also makes lines on your face more noticeable. Coffee and alcohol dehydrate the skin, and drinking lots of water helps keep your skin glowing.

  • Make sunscreen a friend

You don't apply sunscreen only during the summer. Wear sunscreen at all times when you're heading out. The sun is a major cause of skin aging. Too much sun might cause serious skin damage such as dehydration and the formation of harmful free radicals. Sunscreen protects from the sun's harmful rays and should be worn all the time if you're going to be out in the sun for a long time.
