Is Eating A Lot Of Fruits Healthy?

One thing for sure is too much of anything is poisonous. However, when it comes to healthy eating, does the same apply? Is there anything like you’re eating too much fruits? One of the most emphasized things is eat a lot of fruits. While incorporating a lot of fruits is amazing to your health, too much of fruits can be harmful.

How can fruits be unhealthy?

Fruits are healthy no doubt about that. However, fruits contain a lot of natural sugars. Fructose from fruits is the main concern. Modern fruits to be precise is a menace. They are highly sweetened and bioengineered then ripened by chemicals. Have you ever asked yourself why modern fruits are always available yet fruits are seasonal? Most of the modern fruits are seedless yet all fruits are supposed to have seeds? For people who’ve grown eating traditional fruits, they know these fruits are seasonal and not abnormally sweet compared to modern fruits. Natural grown traditional fruits are crude and not so appealing. Today, fruits have such appealing colors combined with abnormally sweet taste and smell.

The sugar from fruits is not so different from normal sugar. When sugar gets in the body, the body doesn’t distinguish that this is sugar from a fruit and this is table sugar. The metabolic channel in the body is one. The enemy here is fructose. Did you know that 50% of table sugar is fructose? 80% of honey is fructose and 90% of fruit sugar is fructose.

In the body, fructose isn’t like glucose which is picked and metabolized by insulin and stored in muscles as fats. Fructose goes direct into the liver and it’s stored as fat which leads to a fatty liver.

Does that mean you should stay away from fruits?

No! like we said from the beginning, fruits are healthy. However, try to eat less and less of the very sugary fruits like mangoes, cherries, bananas, and grapes. Instead, go for fruits with healthy fats and fibers like avocados, raspberries, strawberries, and guavas. If possible, stay away from modern fruits. These are the highly appealing fruits with a yellow color combined with a sweet smell.

Fruits are a no-go zone for people dealing with diabetes. They spike your blood sugar levels which can be catastrophic. These people might opt for the low sugar fruits like avocados and guavas but stick to a small serving. Eating whole fruit is better as it results in enhanced control of blood sugar.
