1. Is MedPics a sole telemedicine service?
A: MedPics is more than that! It is a medical image archiving service and global health expert index that is searchable based on your medical and clinical needs. It allows requesting medical advise and second opinions through different means: simple text chat, video consultation and a comprehensive medical imaging viewing system. MedPics also offers a personal archive for all your medical imaging (X-Ray, ultrasound , MRI, CT), which you can share with anyone you trust – friends, family or health care experts.
2. Who are the health experts?
A: These are verified doctors and other health experts of different specialties and expertise from around the globe. The experts provide detailed information about their expertise, training and other pertinent information in their detailed profile, which can be viewed in the respective expert’s page. MedPics verifies their medical credentials and provides a detailed profile on our medical expert page. You can browse the list of medical experts in the MedPics expert index. Most experts are medical doctors, in addition to other health sciences such as chiropractors, physiotherapists, nutritionists and others.
3. How are medical imaging experts selected?
A: Health experts can join MedPics but MedPics also recruits directly health experts of the highest caliber to enhance our services worldwide. We strive the highest level of security and patient’s trust by implementing an internal approval and verification process for all health experts before we allow them to offer their services via Medpics.
4. If I need an expert advice from a specialist, can I have more than a second opinion?
A: Yes, you can have as many (third, fourth) opinions as you feel necessary to reach a comfort level that you are happy with the provided information to proceed with your patient’s further treatment.
5. How do I contact a specialist?
A: Go into our expert index and simply choose a specialist who meets your criteria. You will find detailed information about that person and how to contact or start a consult or appointment.
6. How do I communicate with the specialist?
A: MedPics allows you to communicate with experts through an internal messaging system or live video chat. Health experts may also prefer to communicate with you through an external communication platform, such as through email or Skype. You may also request a written report from your expert sent to you either through MedPics’ internal messaging system or an external communication platform, such as email or Skype.
7. Is the video consult safe?
A: Yes. MedPics uses HIPAA compliant peer-to-peer encryption technology for its video consults. MedPics also does not store any video or audio.
8. How much does a consultation cost?
A: That’s the beauty of MedPics: we leave that up to you and your specialist! MedPics offers a platform in which the expert either sets a fixed price for a specific service or leaves it up to negotiation, allowing a fee you are comfortable paying. Of course we also allow the entire process being paid externally by insurance – or having the consult for free. Again: we leave this up to you!
9. How long does it take to receive an expert opinion?
A: When asking for a consult, you can determine the level of urgency – a chronic problem that can wait a few more days or a more acute problem that needs quicker attention.
10. What information do I need to provide for an imaging consult? (e.g. X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI).
A: Any medical information you want can be uploaded and sent to the health expert. You might include medical documents along with specific medical images you would like reviewed, such as X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT and MRI. Your images can be uploaded and saved anonymously as well.
11. How can I share my medical images? (e.g. X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI).
A: MedPics does provide an upload tool that allows you to transfer images from a storage device (i.e. CD, DVD, memory stick, local storage) to our secure “cloud” archive. Images can even be stored anonymously, without your identifiers. You may then grant access/share these with anyone you trust – colleagues or other medical specialists.
12. Are my files secure on MedPics?
A: MedPics provides a HIPAA-compliant environment and uses encryption technology that keeps patient information safe. Image data is shared via a secure web link and can only be accessed by the health expert authorized by you or by other authorized personnel.
13. How long will my files be stored on MedPics?
A: This depends on you and your subscription plan, which can be for long-term (many years). You may also delete your images at any time yourself.
14. Is MedPics providing personal health advice?
A: No. MedPics provides you with access to a health expert pool. We offer these independent experts a convenient platform to reach out to you and vice versa, but the medical advice they provide to you is beyond MedPics’ control. Please see further information under “Terms and Conditions”.
15. What is the first step, if I want to use MedPics?
A: To start, simply set up a free account under “Register”. This will give you access to our health experts, clinics and hospitals.
