Different Ways to Take Care of Your Skin

The first impression when you meet someone is always the skin. It’s the first organ that a person sees and most people identify you with your face which is part of the skin. Taking care of your skin is no longer a preserve for the ladies. Today, everyone is looking for different ways to take care of their skin. It doesn’t matter if you have a skin care routine or not. One thing for sure is, taking care of your skin is possible without having a complicated skincare routine. But how?

Protect your skin from the sun

Sun exposure causes age spots, wrinkles, and other skin problems. It also carries the risk of skin cancer. Use broad spectrum sunscreen every day. If you’re out swimming carry it with you and apply after every two hours. If you want to enjoy the sun, wear a lot of sunscreen and a hat. Seek shade between 10Am and 4PM when the sun is at its hottest. Cover your skin with long-sleeved shirts, wide hats, and long pants. Any layer of ultraviolet protection is also welcome.

No Smoking

Smoking is harmful to your health and it contributes to wrinkles and makes the skin appear older. Smoking narrows the small blood vessels in the outermost layer of the skin decreasing blood flow therefore making the skin look pale.

Smoking damages collagen and elastin. These are the fibers in your skin that gives it strength and elasticity. Smoking also increases the risk of squamous cell skin cancer. If you are a smoker, the best way to help protect your skin is to quit.

Eat Heathy

A healthy mean helps you feel and look younger. When it comes to taking care of your skin, eat a lot of vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, and whole grains. The link between acne and diet isn’t very clear. However, research shows that a diet rich in fish oil and fish oil supplements and low in processed and refined carbs or unhealthy fats promotes a vibrant and younger looking skin.

Wash Your Skin

First, avoid too long hot showers. Hot water strips your skin of essential oils. If you can, substitute hot water with warm water for your bath. Make sure you clean your skin at least twice a day. In the morning and evening. Don’t use strong soaps and detergents that might strip oils from your face. Make sure to use a moisturizer every time you wash your skin and especially if you have dry skin.
