How to Boost Your Mental Health?

Mental health is as important as physical health. But unfortunately, people are more concerned with physical health only. This leaves mental health neglected which is very bad. People need to realize that a healthy mind is necessary for a healthy body because it determines our behavior, how we think, act, talk, etc [1]. Especially, in this hard time when the entire world is going through a crisis due to coronavirus pandemic. It has become difficult for the public to stay sane. How can you evade depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders when you are amid a pandemic? It is necessary to boost your mental health to stay physically healthy and fight the pandemic efficiently. Look for ways that can improve your mental health. Anything which makes you happy can be helpful.

 

 

Tips to Improve Your Mental Health:

Following are some ideas and tips which can help you boost your mental health:

1.Practice gratitude: a single word of gratitude for the things which make you feel happy is good for your mental health. Be grateful for your family, friends, food, home, and every important little thing [2].

 

2. Share your feelings: talk about the feelings you have with someone. Sharing your problems does not make you weak, it helps you find a solution to them. Talking to the right person is like a therapy, it automatically relieves your problems. Speak your heart out, it will bring you mental peace.

 

3. Eat healthy: both physical and mental health are related to each other, if one of these is suffering, the other will also be surely affected [3]. Eat well, a balanced diet with all the required nutrients promotes physical as well as mental health. Drink plenty of water and take a minimum of 3 meals a day. Avoid taking a lot of caffeine and sugar.

 

4. Stay active: exercise is advised for both physical and mental health. A little exercise daily releases some chemicals in your body which have positive effects. Exercise can be any activity that increases body movements. You can have a stroll in the park, you can swim, you can go for a hike, etc. any physical activity which you enjoy is an exercise. Exercise should be a part of your daily life.

 

5. Communicate with your loved ones: communication is key to every happy relationship. Stay connected even if you live far away from your family. With the tremendous advancement of science, the world has become a global village. Everyone is just a click away. Call your friends and family every day. It is a great way of staying mentally healthy.

 

6. Take a break: everyone deserves a break, a changed scene is good for mental health. Go for a vacation, plan a picnic, or anything which makes you happy. Visit your friends, go for a party, etc [4].

 

7. Do something you are good at: a hobby is a source of joy for people. art therapy helps fight depression and keeps you sane [5].
