Skincare Routine for Dry and Oily Skin Types

Knowing your skin type is vital to protecting it. Specific skin types have different ways as well as different products to use for the best care. Today, we will look at how you can take care of dry skin and oily skin.

Oily Skin

Cleaning twice a day

This is the most important step of your skincare routine. If you have oily skin, it is most likely going to tolerate more cleansing. If you have oily skin, make sure to give it a thorough cleanse in the morning. You might feel like it’s clean from last night’s cleaning. However, the skin is busy producing oils and shedding skin cells during the night

Skin treatment

Treat your skin by applying a skin toner first. Second, your oily skin might also be acne-prone. If so, use a product containing sulfur or benzoyl peroxide during the day to help prevent breakouts and curb oil production. In the evening, use a retinol product to keep the skin glowing and the pores clear.

Moisturize

This is crucial if you have oily skin. Some people think if you have oily skin, you shouldn’t moisturize, but this is false. All skin types require moisturizing. If you have oily skin, be careful with the moisturizer you use. Get a lightweight, water-based product that is free of oils as well.

Dry Skin

The steps are essentially the same for oily skin but careful on the products to use.

Cleanse

This is the first step. To get a hydrating cleanse. You want a cleanser to remove the oil and dirt without disrupting the outer skin layer.

Toner

Today, most of the available toners use alcohol as the main ingredient, but it dries the skin out. Select an alcohol-free toner with a few active ingredients that help restore the pH level of your skin.

Target

This step helps you target your specific skin condition. With dry skin, focus on hydrating and get a pure hyaluronic acid serum.

Moisturize

Dry skin tends to dry out quickly after cleaning. Once you apply the above serum, get a good moisturizer to help lock in the benefits of the serum. Use a moisturizer designed for the face and use it daily. Avoid any product that might clog your pores and one that is nourishing and hydrating.

Protect

Use sunscreen to prevent the harmful UV rays from damaging your skin regardless of your specific skin type.
