Tips for a Healthy Skin

When it comes to taking care of your skin, the face is the most involved. It’s one part of the skin that we can’t all hide. Wearing masks during the pandemic might have made it easier to cover part of the face. However, it could have also made it worse for your skin. It’s hard to cover your face all the time. This makes having healthy skin paramount as all this is written on your face. But where do you begin?

  • Know your skin type

This is the first step to getting healthy skin. You might suspect that you have normal, dry, oily, or sensitive skin. But do you know your skin type for sure? Knowing your skin type helps a lot when it comes to taking care of your skin. You get to know the dos and don’ts of your skin type as well as the best products to use for that skin type.

  • Get a daily skincare schedule

No matter your skin type, a daily skincare routine can help you maintain overall healthy skin. It also improves concerns such as scarring, acne, and dark spots. A daily skincare routine should be split into two. What you can do in the morning and what you do at night before you sleep.

Use a cleanser in the morning and apply sunscreen and serum under the sunscreen. Use a moisturizer daily even if you have oily skin.

  • Watch what you eat

Eat fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens. These are rich in vitamins which are essential for healthy skin. They are also rich in antioxidants which help prevent inflammation and keep the skin looking younger and healthier.

  • Drink a lot of water

Water helps flush out toxins in the body. Dehydration can also cause dry skin which disposes you to develop skin conditions such as acne and pimples.

  • No smoking

Smoking is detrimental to your skin. It makes your skin look much older and contributes to skin aging and wrinkles. Smoking also narrows the blood vessels in the outer part of the skin decreasing blood flow and making the skin pale.

  • Use natural products

If you can, always use chemical-free products on your face. Read the labels on all your skin products to determine the ones to use and ones to toss away. Visit a dermatologist who will help you know your skin type and recommend the best products to use for your skin.
